Una escultura de una perfecta ilusión óptica del necesario y cumplido sueño libertario de Nelson Mandela

Nelson Mandela,
an example of tenacity,
respect for peoples’ rights and freedom.

Now that we are approaching Nelson Mandela's last years this sculpture of Marco Cianfanelli, Republic of South Africa, represents the reality of this formidable illusion: freedom for all the oppressed of the world.

Made in 2012 for the 50th anniversary of Nelson Mandela’s detention in 1962, when Mandela was 27 years old. The sculpture is exactly where his cell of detention was located, in a Prison that no longer exists.

These 10 meter long 50 spears of laser-cut steel that reveal, depending from where they are observed, Nelson Mandela’s head.

Author: Marco Cianfanelli, RSA 2012 for the 50th anniversary of Nelson Mandela’s detention in 1962, when Mandela was 27 years old. The sculpture is exactly where his cell of detention was located, in a Prison that no longer exists.

This sculpture is a perfect optic illusion of a true lifelong necessary dream.
